Book Dedications in Honor of Our Class of '19 Student Assistants

The Bentley Library’s doors are open 100+ hours a week because our student assistants arrive to work at 7:30am and leave at 2:00am. During exams period they work overnight to provide the 24-hour library access Bentley students desire. Books, DVDs, course reserves and other items are available because our student assistants have covered, labeled, and shelved them. Have you ever utilized Interlibrary Loan or Scan on Demand? Our student workers are an integral part of that process as well. The library could not function without our student employees.

At the end of the academic year we show appreciation to our graduating student assistants with a book or film dedication. Each student is invited to select an item that is meaningful to them, which is then affixed with a special bookplate in their name. A display of their selections will be available soon in the Popular Reading area. You can also view the photo album on Facebook and our Student Employee Dedications Pinterest board.

The library could not operate without our student assistants. We rely on them to be the face of the Library Services Desk, to keep our stacks organized, to help process every new book, DVD, and journal that arrives, to fulfill ILL requests, and to handle so many behind-the-scenes tasks that we can’t list them all here! Our doors would not be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. (and around the clock during finals) without them! The library staff thanks all of our student assistants and sends best wishes to our graduates. Congratulations!

Book Dedications in Appreciation to Our Graduating Students

What would we do without our student assistants? They are here when we open the doors at 7:30 a.m. and close at 2:00 a.m. During exams we leave the overnight operation of the library in their trusted hands. We rely on them to help library users, wrestle with temperamental equipment, shelve and retrieve books (over and over and over again), facilitate Interlibrary Loan requests, and assist with the processing of every book and DVD we purchase. There’s so much more we could list, but suffice it to say that the library could not run without them.

It is a Bentley Library tradition to show appreciation to our graduates with a book or film dedication. Each student is invited to select an item that is meaningful to them, which is then affixed with a special bookplate in their name. This year, dedications have been made on behalf of these Class of 2017 graduates:

Adria Clanton-Thuon

Dedications in Appreciation to Our Graduating Student Assistants

It’s no secret that the Bentley Library couldn’t run without the hard work and dedication of our student assistants. They help us keep the doors open 110 hours a week (plus many extra late-night hours during finals), they are the front line of support at the Library Services Desk, they help the Technical Services Department process every item that goes on our shelves, and in Interlibrary Loan they facilitate borrowing from and lending to other libraries around the world.

It is library tradition to say thank you to our graduating student assistants with a book or film dedication. We invite them to choose an item from the library’s collection, which is then affixed with a bookplate in their name. This year, dedications have been made on behalf of these Class of 2016 graduates:

Library Dedications in Appreciation to Class of 2015 Graduates

They work at the Library as early as 7:30 a.m. and as late as 2:00 a.m. During finals, they’re even here between 2 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Filling printers with paper, processing new books, and assisting library users are just a few of their responsibilities. Who are these people? They are your fellow Falcons who work at the Bentley Library.

As a small token of thanks, we ask our seniors to select a book or film, which is then affixed with a bookplate in their name.
