Our Turn: Library's Response to 14 Days to Have Your Say!

The Bentley Library staff thanks everyone who submitted comments and suggestions during 14 Days to Have Your Say!. We appreciate your kind words and thoughtful feedback. During the 14 Days period, we refrained from responding in order to encourage a free and open discussion, but rest assured, every post and comment has been examined.

Now it is our turn to respond to the issues that arose most frequently and to highlight the solutions that have already been implemented or that will be addressed in the coming months. If you have questions about anything you see (or don’t see) here, don’t hesitate to contact us at library@bentley.edu.

Library Response to 14 Days

We want you to know that we’re still listening! If you have questions about anything you see (or don’t see here) or want to send us more feedback, please send us an email library@bentley.edu or use the Contact Us  form on the library’s website.

Thank You for Contributing to 14 Days to Have Your Say!

Thank you to the Bentley community for contributing many thoughtful comments, suggestions, and ideas in response to the 14 Days to Have Your Say! campaign. We also appreciate your kind words about our staff, services, and resources.

Between January 29th and February 11th we recorded 1,869 blog views and logged 47 blog posts and 11 blog comments.  The whiteboards placed throughout the library captured 142 notes.

You gave us much to consider, and in the coming weeks we will be reviewing what everyone had to say. The library will post a response on the 14 Days to Have Your Say! blog site as soon as we can.

The blog is closed and the whiteboards have been put away, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to continue to hear from you. Visit our Contact Us page to reach a specific department or to submit a suggestion through the comment form. You can also reach us via email at library@bentley.edu.

Thank you!

14 Days to Have Your Say! Begins January 29

The Bentley Library is pleased to announce the return of 14 Days to Have Your Say!

From Tuesday, January 29 to Monday, February 11, we are providing open forums—online and inside the library—to allow members of our community to post comments and suggestions. Have your say and see what others are saying about the library!

What do you love about the library?
What can we do better?
What services and resources are we missing?

There are a few ways you can participate:

  1. Post directly on the 14 Days to Have Your Say! blog. (We want you to feel comfortable posting online, so your name will not be published on the blog.)
  2. Visit the library to add your thoughts to the whiteboards you’ll find on each floor of the library.
  3. Use the tablet kiosk in the lobby to give us a quick rating.

We’ve done this before, with great success!

The past four installments of 14 Days to Have Your Say! (2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014) were very successful, and the library has made many changes to our services, policies, and resources as a result of the thoughtful feedback we’ve received.

For example, in response to previous 14 Days feedback, the library has:

  • increased normal operating hours and instituted 24-hour access during final exams
  • improved the physical facilities by adding more study carrels, installing stand-up work areas, and improving signage
  • adjusted borrowing policies to extend access to our popular and faculty DVD collections
  • improved the features and functionality of the group study room reservation system
  • installed new equipment and technology, such as “quick print” stations, scanners, and USB charging ports

We hope that this installment is just as popular and productive. Don’t be shy, tell us what’s on your mind!
