Due to the inclement weather, Bentley University has canceled daytime classes and closed campus today, Monday, February 2nd. The Bentley Library will remain closed during the snow emergency.

The university will make an announcement about opening campus for evening classes by 2:00 p.m on Monday. A decision about opening the library for evening hours will be made after the university’s announcement.

Library Closed; Reopens Thursday 1/29 at 7:30am

Due to ongoing snow removal efforts, Bentley University has canceled evening classes on Wednesday, January 28th. The Bentley Library will also remain closed tonight.  The library expects to reopen at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 29th.

Don’t forget that even when the library’s doors are closed, our research databases and eBook collections are always accessible from both on and off campus.

New Electronic Resource: Statista

Statista is an internet-based statistics portal.  The Statista platform covers over 60,000 topics from over 18,000 sources world-wide.  Statista categorizes data into 21 market sectors — including, E-Commerce, Consumer Goods, Media & Advertising, and Technology& Communications.

Users can export content in widely used formats such ass PNG, XLS and PPT for use in presentations, websites or blogs.  Statistics can be displayed in bar chart, line graph and table formats — based on the users needs.  Statista also provides reading support to explain statistics published on the portal.  Detailed source citation is also included so that users can trace back directly to the original source.

Each statistic indexed in Statista is dealt with on an individual basis and linked to corresponding topics and subject areas within the portal.  Uses can use Statista’s rankings to arrange tables in sortable formats.

Library Closed Saturday, January 17th – Monday, January 19th

In addition to being closed this weekend (Saturday, January 17 and Sunday, January 18), the library will be closed on Monday, January 19, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

The library reopens on Tuesday, January 20, at 7:30 a.m. and will begin regular semester hours that day. For more information about the library’s hours please view the online hours calendar.

On Display: Best Books of 2014

Happy New Year and welcome to the library’s 6th annual best books display! This year we have consulted eighteen* best books lists to bring you the Best Books of 2014.

Best Books of 2014More than 150 books and audiobooks are currently on display, with additional titles being added as they are acquired and returned. Many of these books are not only available in hardcopy and CD/Playaway formats, but also as eBooks and mp3 audiobooks via the library’s OverDrive digital collection.

The display includes bestselling fiction and nonfiction books that have garnered much publicity, as well as books that are critically acclaimed but may not have received mainstream attention. Does that pique your interest? Stop by the lobby to browse.
