Giving Thanks to the Bentley Community

I have a morning ritual here at the library. I arrive just before 8:00 a.m., put my bags down at the Reference Desk, and head into Einstein’s for a cup of coffee. On Friday mornings I pause to see if the most recent Vanguard has been added to the newsstand. I often flip through the paper during my 8:30 a.m. reference desk shift while awaiting the day’s first questions. One recent morning I opened the paper to find that the library and the reference librarians had been mentioned in a Vanguard editorial titled “Things We Love About Bentley”. The entire staff was genuinely surprised and thankful to be included on the list.
thank-you-bentley

That experience, in conjunction with the arrival of the Thanksgiving season, prompted some reflection. Every Bentley Library staff member has many reasons to be thankful, but we are all especially grateful for the enthusiastic support we receive from the Bentley University community. To all Bentley faculty, staff, students and alumni, we say “thank you”.  We appreciate the kindness, generosity and dedication you show to the library every day, and we are thankful to have you as friends and colleagues. Best wishes to you all for a very happy Thanksgiving!

Library Dedications in Appreciation to Our Seniors

It is a Bentley Library tradition to show appreciation to our graduating student assistants by dedicating a book or film in their honor. Each student is invited to select an item from the library’s collection, which is then affixed with a bookplate in their name.  This year, dedications have been made on behalf of these Class of 2013 graduates:

Taylor Murphy with her magical choice.

Josh Brooks

Joshua Buckley

George E. Collins, Jr.

Charlotte Mazel

Taylor F. Murphy

Christine Osborne

Mohamed Warsame

Stop by the New Books area of the library to view a display of their selections, or visit the Library Student Employee Dedication Pinterest board to view photos and descriptions of the dedications.

Thanks goes out to all the student assistants for their hard work and commitment throughout the past year.

Stress-Less at the Library. Refuel, Relax, Recharge!

Stress-Less at the Bentley Library
co-sponsored by the Bentley Library and CSD Develop U Peer Educators

The art gallery has been transformed into a stress-free zone for exam period.  While the gallery is always a quiet, contemplative place, this week we’ve equipped the space with stress-busting activities to help you renew, regroup and refresh. You’ll find jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, and other quiet games to give your brain a break.

May 1 – May 3 the gallery will be stocked with water and snack bars to help you re-energize!

Thank you to the Develop U Peer Educators for their assistance and co-sponsorship of “Stress-Less”.
