Listen Up! New Audiobooks On Display…

In the car or on the bus, on the treadmill or out for a jog, relaxing on the couch or stuck in front of your computer at work…consider how much faster the time will pass if you’re listening to an audiobook!  Our current display highlights some of our most recent audiobook arrivals – both on CD and in digital Playaway format.

‘Tis the Season for Blood, Guts & Ghouls

Is that a chill in the air? Or is it a chill running down your spine from thoughts of Blood, Guts, and Ghouls?!?  The Bentley Library staff has put together a display of books and DVDs that are sure to thrill and spook you this Halloween season.

You can revisit classic gothic works Dracula and Frankenstein. Discover new bloodsucking tomes such as Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series or the Charlaine Harris books that inspired the HBO TV series True Blood. Delve deep into the gothic/horror genre with various literary criticisms and histories on our fascination with what goes bump in the dark.

In the mood for a scary movie? Pick your poison! Our DVD selection ranges from Hitchcock flicks to Halloween. Frights abound with foreign films The Host, The Orphanage and many more.  We also have family favorites including Bedknobs and Broomsticks and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

Playaway Digital Audiobooks Now Available

Playaways are now available at the Bentley Library!
What is a Playaway? Half the size of a deck of cards and weighing in at two ounces, Playaway is the simplest way to listen to a book on the go!  Each Playaway comes with the digital audiobook already pre-loaded on it and an AAA battery to make it play. Simply plug in your headphones and enjoy. The universal headphone jack also works with most speakers and car adapters.

The Playaway collection currently includes bestselling fiction and non-fiction titles, such as The Road, Devil’s Garden, The Zookeeper’s Wife, and Water for ElephantsClick here to see a full list of our Playaways in the library catalog.  Playaways are currently located in the “New Books” area, along the wall near the Deloitte Café.
