Hey Everyone,
Here are my thoughts on Hurricane Katrina. Feel free to add your own thoughts and comments.
Hurricane Katrina was a very disastrous and devastating storm. It left a great amount of destruction in its path when it hit on August 29, 2005. The hurricane hit the regions of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. It turned out to be one of the most destructive hurricanes to hit our nation. Through the discussion board presented at Bentley I learned that New Orleans and was one of the hardest hit of all places mainly because the land is below sea level. From one speaker I learned that the sad thing was that politicians knew that if a hurricane came by it would cause great disaster to the city, but no action was taken ahead of time to prevent the problem. Also the hurricane barriers were not as strong as they should have been. I feel that there is a great lesson to be learned from all of this. We now have to be more prepared in the event of a natural disaster and should take preventive measures ahead of time. A natural disaster can happen at any given point in time which means that we should always have a plan of action and take preventive measures in the event that one occurs.
